The audience at  the Echoes of Oban concert heard of a new competition to be run by the Army School of Piping in conjunction with the Competing Pipers Association. Date for the 2013 contest is Oct 5, Army commitments considered. All grades catered for. Venue: Inchdrewer House, Edinburgh. Secretary of the CPA Peter McCalister said: ‘The premises are ideal for a world class competition which will embrace all (probably) grades. This brings professional solo piping back to Edinburgh after the demise of the fondly remembered Eagle Pipers and Edinburgh Police contest.’ Gordon Rowan of the Army School said: ‘All arrangements are well in hand.  The contest is going to be an important date in the piping calendar.’
