There is no better way of learning the pipes or improving your playing than by studying at the College of Piping. In more that half a century hundreds of satisfied pupils have had the benefits of our teaching experience. All courses are tailored to meet the needs of students whatever their age or ability. Teaching fees are kept to a minimum with subsidy from College Shop profits. It is part of the College's ethos that no one who wants to learn the pipes will be discouraged for financial reasons. Classes are held in the evening, day time and in weekly or fortnightly blocks. Using the College's highly acclaimed tutor books, students are slowly and surely taken through every aspect of what constitutes good piping: technique, expression and bagpipe sound. All courses lead towards PDQB exams. Our instructors are some of the very best in the piping world. Our Principal Robert Wallace is known internationally for his tuition in North America, Europe, South Africa and Australia. P/M Joe Wilson, a holder of the Army's P/M's Certificate is highly respected throughout the piping world as a master teacher. Former Principal Dugald MacNeill offers tuition both at the College in Glasgow and at an evening class in Edinburgh. Add to them our occasional instructors Andrew Wright doyen of all piobaireachd scholars, John Wilson, double Gold Medallist, Barry Donaldson, James MacLean and Jim Semple all three many times winners of the World Pipe Band Championships with Strathclyde Police and you can see what a winning team of instructors we have.
