College of Piping and World's Week 2008

It's the busiest week in the piping year with something for everyone with an interest in piping. The climax is the World Pipe Band Championships on August the 16th, at Glasgow Green. Before that there is a host of other interesting things going on. Take a look at the list below and if you have anything that you are running please let us know and we will include it on this site. If you are in Glasgow for the world's or any other reason and want to brush up on your piping the annual CoP Summer School will be running throughout July and August at a cost of £70 for the week. If you are interested in piping history why not come into the Museum of Piping at the College of Piping where you can spend as long as like admiring the hundreds of artifacts and photographs and other memorabilia. Admission is free.

August 11th Afternoon (1pm)

An invited line-up of pipe band drummers will decend on Todds Bar, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow to particpate in the Lord of the Todd Challenge.

The big question on everyone’s lips is will bass drummer Steve Foley win the title for the second time, or will one of the other invited world class pipe band percussionists gain enough audience support to take the biggest prize available to pipe band drummers?

Drumming for Drinks is back, this time under the management of Innovation.
