The College of Piping Pipe Band

The band after competing at the 2009 Worlds

The band was formed in 2008 with a view to giving students the experience of playing in a competing pipe band. Under the guidance of World Championship winning P/M Barry Donaldson, the band competes in Grade 4b. All students of the College whether at home or abroad are eligible to play. By taking part our students enjoy the pleasure of joint music making. Furthermore they learn the techniques of unison playing, marching disciplines, band commands, starting and stopping procedures and all the other necessary skills for pipers and drummers who wish to play in a band. There is no fee to join though members pay their own travelling expenses. Bandsmen and women wear their own tartan with white shirt, white hose, CoP tie, Glengarry and black jacket. 2011 marked the end of the first phase of the band’s development with P/M Iain Watson taking over from Barry. The band intends competing at all the major championships in 2012 and some minor contests. Contact Iain here
