Sandy Keith
We are sorry to report the passing of Sandy Keith, one of the first ever pupils at the College. Sandy was 74 and had settled in Dunedin, Florida, after moving south from Hamilton, Ontario. In his early years Sandy had lessons from the blind piper Archie MacNeill, Seumas MacNeill and Donald MacLean. He was an extremely clean-fingered and musical piper. He did sterling work for the bagpipe in Canada and the US, in particular with youngsters in the Dunedin area in the past few years. One of his outstanding pupils was the late Scott MacAulay whose passing affected him deeply. Sandy was instrumental in helping Scott establish the College of Piping on Prince Edward Island and his connections with Seumas MacNeill led to the permission to use the College name for the new school. Latterly Sandy was a regular visitor to the College on his summer visits and never forgot his early teaching here. Obituary to follow in the PT.
