Titled On The Day, the documentary follows the band during its one and only week together so far in August 2008, as the group of more than 40 pipers and drummers assembled and practiced for the Grade 1 World Pipe Band Championship at Glasgow Green. Filmmaker-piper John MacDonald of Pasadena, California MacDonald and his crew followed the band almost every step of the way, from initial meetings, to practices, to receiving uniforms, and ending with the band's celebration after the August 16th contest.

What a week for Pipe Major Teny Tully and his St Laurence O'Toole Pipe Band. Starting with Pipe Sgt. Alen Tully winning the prestige quartette competition on Tuesday night the 10th, this was followed by the sellout concert at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, which has been acclaimed as the finest concert that there has been since the series began 15 years ago. Then came the 'icing on the cake' on Saturday the 14th August when the band 'swept the boards' in the Grade One World Pipe Band Championship, winning the MSR and MEDLEY sections, a feat rarely accomplished before. A magnificent achievment and a fitting award to Terry and his band in this the centenary year.

Piper Eric Riglers skills on the Uileann Pipes make him one of the worlds most sought after Celtic musicians. Eric played on the original soundtrack for Mel Gibsons motion picture Braveheart and features throughout this recording with the Bill Garden Orchestra.

In this special Centenary year for the band, it was an honour and a privilege to play once again on the stage at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. In putting together this concert , the idea was not only to reflect back on moments in our history and honour past players and composers, but also to look forward to a bright future. It seemed fitting that we chose a title to mirror this concept. We have always prided ourselves on playing material which we enjoyed, and as a direct result we have often received the reputation over the years as being 'innovative' - where many of the tunes were simply traditional tunes played in a contemporary style, arranged along side much newer material.
