The College Winter School has moved! Next year it will be based at the Jugendherberge (youth hostel) in Homburg in Saarland from February 6 -13th. After four excellent years at Bruggen it was felt that a change was necessary to accommodate in comfort the growing numbers of pipers, drummers and drum majors wanting to attend the school. From 2011 the school will be completely independent and I would like to take this opportunity of thanking David and Heike and the Pipers Corner for all their work in the past.
Registrations for the 2011 school are open now. The price is £360 GBP. The price is in GBP because that is the currency the CoP shop uses. It equates approximatley to ¬400. This includes all meals, tuition and accommodation. Each room in the hostel accommodates four students. There are also five double rooms and these are available for a suplement of £40 GBP per person.Students can only pay by credit card via the secure online CoP Shop. A deposit of 10% guarantees your place. However, the balance of £324 GBP must be paid by October 31, 2010, or your place may be taken by someone else. Deposits are non-refundable. All major credit cards accepted. Students can also pay the full amount just now if they wish. Places will be limited to 115 on a first come first served basis. The closing concert and certificates ceremony will take place in the jugenherberge on Saturday, February 12. Only classes and individuals from the course will perform. The concert will be open to family, friends and townspeople. We will have a parade in the town to try to advertise the show. We will be introducing bass and tenor tuition next year and this will be led by Lynn Ward of Strathclyde Police PB. All other arrangements for the school will be as before. We will again offer the PDQB exams but also our in house College of Piping examinations. PDQB/SQA exams need to be booked by January 6. Send us an email if you want to sit them.
